Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Welcome to my website! I am a licensed clinical psychologist located in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, and serve clients from nearby areas such as Mt. Airy, Germantown, Roxborough, and other parts of Philadelphia.

I truly enjoy getting to know my clients well and supporting them as they reach their potential. I believe a good match between therapist and client is a large part of what makes therapy work. I have a caring, gentle approach and I focus on building strengths and helping clients address past traumas, through several methods I have been extensively trained in. EMDR is one of the modalities I find effective in helping clients to deepen their insight and healing. Many clients find EMDR helps them gain movement in areas they have not previously been able to find change around in therapy. I tend to tailor treatment to address what the client is struggling most with, whether that is symptoms, interpersonal issues, or past traumatic events. I also offer expertise in food addiction issues and can help clients address this issue, if relevant, in a way that is both extremely effective and non-blaming.

Unconditional acceptance and compassionate, sustained attention are two of the tools I bring to my work with clients. I will help you work on developing unconditional love for yourself, as well as compassionate self-discipline. I believe your relationship with yourself is the foundation for everything else in your life. My approach is strengths-based, and will work to help you see the good in yourself, and release and reprocess the negative past experiences which may be holding you back.

I am certified, experienced and supervised in this cutting-edge model of psychotherapy and trauma resolution. EMDR is a client-centered method of addressing traumtic issues large and small from the past and resolving them in such a way that tends to by-pass typical resistances. You may feel more and feel better quickly and learn surprising things about yourself if you try this method of healing. Excellent resources to check out to further understand the EMDR process are Dr. Andrew Dobo's book (Healing Souls at the Speed of Thought) and Dr. Tal Croitoru's book (The EMDR Revolution: Change Your Life One Memory at a Time).

Getting Started

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a different experience for each person, but it is often an exploratory and healing process which I think of as helping you to gather in all of the pieces of your life and string them together, like beads on a necklace. We will work on helping you make sense of and reprocess what might have felt overwhelming in the past. This process will likely help you become less triggered by past traumatic events, and more able to find adaptive ways to go on with your present life with greater ease and contentment and less suffering.
